Regarding our 1937 Phantom III Limousine (1936-1939):
When the Phantom III was unveiled in 1936 it was the most technically advanced car in the world and many believe the best car ever made. Our exceptional Rolls-Royce Phantom III with Sedanca de Ville with coachwork by Hooper reflects this heritage. It wasn't until the Phantom V (1965) that the Phantom Mark was offered to anyone other than a Head of State, a Titled Personage or a Peer of the Realm.
To be able to enjoy and use a vehicle of such majesty as a service vehicle can be a once in a lifetime opportunity indeed. It is essentially a collector's piece for someone who appreciates its historic value. This Hooper Coach built design offered maximum passenger comfort and luxury for dashing arrivals and departures at special events, activities and venues.
Splendid Isolation
To drive in the Phantom III is a joy. The Chauffeur and Passengers sit high and have commanding views from side windows and along the tapering, angular bonnet. Passengers are conscious of the great width and of the tremendous amount of car they are traveling in. Yet control is surprisingly light and the steering is very responsive. With it’s long wheelbase, the car strides over hump-back bridges and most road irregularities so unobtrusively that occupants scarcely notice them, especially those traveling in the almost perfect isolation from sound and movement of the rear "lounge" of the limousine.
Some History of Our Hoopers Built Phantom III:
Our Hooper Built Phantom III is a very rare limousine - In 1807 Hoopers opened their first Coach Works for the Production of horse-drawn carriages. At the turn of the century Rolls and Royce approached Hoopers and asked that they coachbuild bodies on their vehicles. In 1937, at the time of the build of our Phantom III Rolls-Royce, Hoopers had received the honor of making of distinguished carriages and car bodies for a progression State Carriages and Motor-Cars continuously for more than a century through eight reigns of Kings and Queens worldwide.
Phantom III production years were 1935 - 1939. During this period the Hooper coach works (One of several independent Rolls-Royce authorized Coachbuilders) produced only several Phantom III Sedanca De Ville limousines - A Phantom was built for Her Grace the Duchess of Marlborough and one for His Highness The Aga Khan. We are still researching the history of our Phantom III to determine its lineage to the present time.
